Ludington Coats and Boots is a nonprofit organization that provides free winter clothing and boots to qualifying students in need within Mason County. Students are referred through community links workers or school counselors, who submit requests to the program. Our work relies on community involvement, including donations of gently used items, which are cleaned, repaired, and repurposed. To support our efforts, we participate in events with community partners such as Culvers and House of Flavors, to name a few. Our dedicated team of 10 volunteers collaborates closely with the community links liaison to ensure no student goes without essential winter gear.
Students in need of warm winter clothing are identified by family, teachers, and/or community members.
The community links worker and/or school counselor is contacted with the student’s information, including sizes and type of winter apparel needed.
The school counselor or community links worker submits a request to Ludington Coats and Boots for Kids.
We fulfill the request, typically within the same day or the next day, depending on size availability.
Please note: all requests are filled only through the school counselor or community links worker. To request winter clothing for your child, please contact your child’s school counselor.
