Ludington Coats and Boots is a nonprofit organization that provides free winter clothing and boots to qualifying students in need within Mason County. Students are referred through community links workers or school counselors, who submit requests to the program. Our work relies on community involvement, including donations of gently used items, which are cleaned, repaired, and repurposed. To support our efforts, we participate in events with community partners such as Culvers and House of Flavors, to name a few. Our dedicated team of 10 volunteers collaborates closely with the community links liaison to ensure no student goes without essential winter gear.
Students in need of warm winter clothing are identified by family, teachers, and/or community members.
The community resource advocate and/or school counselor is contacted with the student’s information, including sizes and types of winter apparel needed.
The school counselor or community resource advocate submits a request to Ludington Coats and Boots for Kids.
We fulfill the request, typically within the same day or the next day, depending on size availability.
Please note that all requests are fulfilled only through the school counselor or community resource advocates. To request winter clothing for your child, please get in touch with your child’s school counselor.
“Ludington Coats and Boots for Kids ensured my child went to school warm and happy all winter long. It was truly a blessing to our family during a difficult time.”

Throughout the year we host various fundraising events from mini golf outings to Culver’s nights. These events are not only a fun opportunity to gather with community and share our good work, but also raise money to keep our program running.
On November 5th, we have a fundraiser at House of Flavors restaurant, where a percentage of the profits from 5:00 to 8:00 pm will benefit us. The next event is our Culver’s Share Night on November 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m
From laundering and organizing donated clothing to assisting with our events, we always have a need for more volunteers!
